Highly acclaimed for their portrayal of the legendry comedy duo, Eric Morecombe and Ernie Wise, actors Jonty Stevens and Ian Ashpitel return in a new show bringing back the memories of Eric and Ern.
Eric Morecambe (Jonty Stevens) and Ernie Wise (Ian Ashpitel)
I went to this show without ever watching Eric and Ern on TV. I was expecting a comedy show that will make me laugh all night long and I was disappointed. This was due to a fact that it was almost like a tribute act to Eric and Ern which meant that if you haven't watched their show you won't get most of the jokes and sketches that were being performed. As I've said before I have never watched their shows and I found most of the show absolutely boring because I simply didn't know what was going on. I figured out some jokes and puns however it wasn't enough to keep me entertained for the night. Both Stevens and Ashpitel were laughing at their "jokes" and I don't know whether it was because they came out of character or that's what Eric and Ern did. I can't comment on how accurate the impressions of Eric and Ern were by Stevens and Ashpitel however the audience seemed to love them.
This evening Rebecca Neale joined the duo to sing some well-known songs however the attention was stolen by the duo clowning behind her which I actually found funny because it wasn't something that only people who've watched the show would understand
This Show Gets:
Overall, the show is great if you have previously watched the duo on tv however if you've not then there's not much for you to enjoy as everything will be an inside joke between the duo and people who have watched them before.
